Japanese knotweed starts early.... or is this the 'new normal?'

PCA's Invasive Weed members will know that South Wales is arguably the ‘home’ of Japanese knotweed in the UK. So when we see our members and others in that region sharing photos of ‘early’ Japanese knotweed growth (any time from mid-February onwards,) PCA's Technical Manager Peter finds himself asking would Tom Jones, a man from the valleys himself, be surprised or just think “it’s not unusual”? Astute Insurance acquired by JMG Group

We can share that the PCA insurance partner Astute Insurance, has been acquired by the JMG Group. For those PCA members that use Astute Insurance, we have been advised there should be no difference in their service offering, but we will of course update members should there be any change in the near future. JMG Group is a Top 50 UK insurance broker, with a truly nationwide reach and a range of specialist services. We hope this acquisition does help support both Astute and JMG, which may lead to future service opportunities that PCA members may be able to take advantage of. PestEx is the trade show and exhibition for anyone involved in the pest control industry and is organised by the British Pest Control Association (BPCA). A survey of UK waterproofing specialists

For those in the waterproofing sector, can you give a minute of your time to help out PCA member, James Hockey of Trace Basements? He is running a brief electronic survey to collect statistics and opinions from the different stakeholders in the UK waterproofing industry, particularly in relation to design preferences and offerings to the market. It will not take long to complete. James' main intention is to use the data to assist in the production of an article on the current mind set for those that design waterproofing in below ground structures for the highly regarded Journal of Building Survey, Appraisal & Valuation. He plans to publicly release the (anonymous) raw information so that PCA members (& anyone else) can review and use as they so wish. Hopefully there will be good information for us all to digest, but it is reliant on people completing the survey and sharing it with relevant others too. James would greatly appreciate your assistance with this and thanks everyone in advance for their time. You are invited to contact James (James.hockey@traceremedial.co.uk) if you have any questions/queries and you can access and complete the survey via the button below.
