Update on our Building Moisture Index (BMI) System
For those who may have missed this, we shared a great article from LocalGov at the beginning of the week. Social housing provider Places for People has rolled out our Building Moisture Index (BMI) system in a bid to ‘accurately identify the best way to reduce condensation and mould growth in customers’ homes.’

BS 8102 Consultation closes on 23rd October!
Our structural waterproofing members are reminded that you have until 23rd October to comment on the proposed revision to BS 8102! For those who may not have commented yet, this is your opportunity to see what is coming and have your say on anything that you feel could be improved.

Talentview – Construction
Talentview – Construction is a new website created by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC), DBEIS, and supported by CITB. It is an attempt to attract people into the construction sector by promoting and advertising, jobs, apprenticeships and even opportunities to undertake work experience.
The initiative is free for anyone to access and free for employers to register and post job opportunities. The hope is that in time it becomes a resource that both experienced workers and budding new entrants to the construction industry, can use to access those offering careers in construction.
With our own industries facing down an increasingly widening skills gap we welcome anything that might help close it. Although we have no inkling as to the likely success of this initiative, we would encourage you to look at it (via the button below) and perhaps give it a try. COP 15 – Why we should be interested…
You may have seen the fanfare and build-up about COP 26, the UN’s global forum for discussing climate change/global warming. But did you know that another UN meeting, COP 15, is taking place now in China and is particularly relevant to our Invasive Weed Control members?!
The subject under discussion is bio-diversity and sustainability (of natural systems) and the impact of invasive species is recognised as a key challenge. Indeed, the Kunming declaration states that “..the main direct drivers of biodiversity loss are land/sea use change, overexploitation, climate change, pollution and invasive alien species.”
It is difficult to know exactly how forums like this will impact UK Government policies on conservation and habitat management, but for now, PCA members can be assured that their work is a key component of the global debate on sustainability and restoring health to natural ecosystems. Alternative Repair Strategies for Traditional Buildings
